"All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine." - Jeff Spicoli
Hey Jamie:
Good luck on your new venture. Seems like a perfect fit both in terms of location and occupation. You're low key, patient, even tempered, funny and have a great way of relating to kids. I think you'll fit right in and will be a great teacher.
A cautionary tale: One of my best friends in high school was a guy named Pat. He was super laid back, really smart and funny as h**l. Kind of like you. Our football coach used to say of Pat, who was the quarterback, "nothing ever bothers that guy". After high school, we went our separate ways and I lost track of him.
Caught up with him a couple of years ago at a reunion. Turns out that he's now a macadamia nut plantation manager on the big island. According to him, his job is to "turn on a few sprinklers every now and then." He works Wednesday through Friday. The rest of the time he smokes a little ... , kicks back or surfs.....
Here's to hoping that you don't go totally native.
One last thing: who's gonna get the balls off the roof now?
"What Jefferson was saying was, Hey! You know, we left this England place 'cause it was bogus; so if we don't get some cool rules ourselves - pronto - we'll just be bogus too! Get it? " - Jeff Spicoli explaining why Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.
